Turnitin’s new multipart assignments help educators shift the conversation from "did this student produce this work?" to "has meaningful learning taken place?”
With multipart assignments, we’re allowing instructors to design assignments with multiple, connected parts, making it easier for instructors to guide the learning process and for students to get the feedback necessary to improve over time.
What you need to know
- Turnitin has launched a new multipart assignment type available via the assignment picker.
- Instructors can create multiple connected assignment parts as one structured workflow, building in the necessary checkpoints to support guidance, reflection, and revision throughout the writing process.
- The new assignment type is available at no additional cost for Turnitin Feedback Studio and Turnitin Clarity customers.
How do multipart assignments work in Turnitin Feedback Studio and Turnitin Clarity?
Setup
Instructors can efficiently create multiple assignment parts in one simple setup, including the ability to duplicate assignment parts when reusing similar assignment settings.
Submission
Before beginning a new stage, students are prompted to review the feedback given on the previous stage. If using Clarity, students will be able to pick up right where they left off by bringing the prior submission text forward when starting the next part.
Review
During the grading process, instructors can easily reference prior submissions, making it possible to view a student's entire learning journey.
